What Writing is Like
For me writing is like, going through high school. Each year of high school you learn something more, like you would when you would edit a paper. Like what Mr. Kunkle said in class yesterday about how you need to keep going over a rough draft, and each time you read something you make more corrections to make it better. The more time you have to look at something the more you realize certain things that you might not have seen before, like freshmen year I didn’t realize I didn’t need to go to all the marching band practices to still get an A, now senior year I know this-- I’ve made corrections. All you need to do is get rid of the unnecessary filler.

Very interesting comparison, ma'am. It is true that writing is a learning experience just like school is. In addition to learning general information like math, science, english (or like vocab, grammar, and reading in writing), you also learn the emotional aspects. Both having the proper mechanics while being able to convey emotion and feeling help make a particular piece of writing great.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about this the other day. The more you practice, the stronger you'll get and the better your writing will be.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true, Megan! With each year of high school, you gradually become more experienced. If only I knew some of things I know today as a freshman. . .
ReplyDeleteThankfully in the world of writing, your time to gain knowledge and improve yourself isn't limited to four years.
I entirely agree. The more we learn of writing the better we are at expressing our thoughts. This can even extend beyond writing, the more we learn of life the better we are.
ReplyDeleteI like the comparison. It's also true of looking at my past essays and papers from freshman or sophomore year. I realize how much I have improved, just in high school. It's true, the more time passes, the more you learn and practice, the better you write...or adapt to life in general.
